Practice begins Monday, November 3rd - 5-7 PM

After first day, swimmers will be divided into practice groups with designated practice times. Each swimmer will be practicing between 60 and 90 minutes per day, 2 and 5 days per week. Meets are Saturday mornings and begin in December.

PER YMCA National Rules, swimmers must also have a YMCA Membership to compete in this league.

The Juniata Valley YMCA #1 goal for the entire swim team is to have FUN!!! Other goals include to improve skills, to stay in shape, team spirit, excitement of competition, to be physically fit, and for the self-challenge. Although winning is a wonderful achievement, it takes a backseat to self-improvement and competition. At the YMCA, everyone gets to swim. No tryouts! Everyone who is interested may join. Swimming is an excellent lifetime aerobic activity. Team sports have excellent benefits as well as life lessons to be learned. By participating in swim team, children can learn to set goals, develop new skills, work as a team, as well as to treat others fairly. Operation of the sport of swimming is dependent on the participation of parent volunteers. The YMCA promotes family-child programming and swimming is one of the best activities for family participation. Interaction with other families will help children develop their social skills and provide an excellent opportunity for parents to share experiences.
