Convenient Child Care
As a membership service, the Juniata Valley YMCA offers babysitting for members and guests. YMCA Staff are available during designated times to watch your children while you use the facility. It is required that you remain within the facility while your child is in child care.
All babysitters at the YMCA are adults and have had a criminal background check and Child Abuse Training. This is not a structured environment, serving primarily as a babysitting service. Cost for this service is $1/hour per child for members and $2/hour per child for non-members. Those wishing to use this service are asked to sign-up 24 hours in advance. As a courtesy, if you are unable to use our services after signing-up, please call the YMCA and let us know your intentions. The YMCA tries very hard to have sitters scheduled for your convenience and need to know your intentions to make this a successful Membership Service.
Service Rules
1. Your child must be between the ages of six months and ten years old.
2. Please be sur
e to pay at the
front desk after you've used the babysitting services. Cost for the babysitting
services is $1.00/hr. per child for members and $2/hr. per child for nonmembers. You are required to sign in
and out at the front desk after you have used the services.
3. If your child needs to have his/her diaper changed, we will locate you to change it.
4. Please do not bring any food or drink with your child to the YMCA. Other children may not have anything to
snack on, and if your child would offer to share, we have no way of knowing if a child is allergic to a certain
food.
5. If you child is ill, please do not bring them to the YMCA and expose other children to their illness.
6. If your child misbehaves or acts in appropriately on a regular basis, we will inform you and try to resolve the
situation.
7. If the staff must find you for any reason to ask you to take you child and it has been less than half an hour, you
are not required to pay. If it is more than half an hour, you are required to pay at the front desk.
8. Babysitting is available to our members and nonmembers while they are using the YMCA facility only.
Members/nonmembers must remain in the YMCA while child/children are in the babysitting program.
