Competitive versus Youth Programs
Text Box: COMPETITIVE VS YOUTH PROGRAMS
The Juniata Valley YMCA is pleased to offer two different types of programs serving our community and the surrounding area.
The first one honors our YMCA mission and is our youth programming. In a YMCA youth program, participants register and are assigned a team and a coach, and given a practice time and a uniform shirt. Playing time is equal and fair for all. Kids are encouraged to learn new things and try new sports. Family and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend practices and games. There is no admission charged.
Competitive Basketball is a program that occurs at the YMCA. Teams sign up to play in a competitive environment with officials and a scorekeeper against other competitive teams. This is not a traditional YMCA program. The purpose of this program is to provide the opportunity for teams of this caliber to compete against other competitive teams. The teams pay to play and the individuals in the stands pay to watch. This is true at other sites that offers similar programs. Fees and admission help to supplement the income of the YMCA and keep the price of membership as low as possible.
