ABOUT THE YMCA:
MISSION:
To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build spirit, mind and body for all.
VISION:
We build strong kids, strong families and strong communities.
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT:
The YMCA helps to build character by teaching, encouraging and demonstrating the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
CODE OF CONDUCT:
All individuals using the YMCA facilities are expected to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the character, welfare, best interest and policies of the Juniata Valley YMCA. Failure to do so will result in an immediate dismissal from the premises and may result in revocation of membership and/or usage privileges.
YMCA POLICIES:
The YMCA is a family oriented facility - therefore we will not tolerate profanity of any kind, smoking on any YMCA premises, violent behavior or spitting. Appropriate dress is expected in all areas of the YMCA. Shirts and shoes must be worn. Children 8 and younger must be accompanied by a parent or adult at all times. Members are required to present their membership cards to be scanned, verifying a current membership, name and photograph for identification.
SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN:
On February 6, 2008, the Board of Directors acted on a recommendation from the Task Force Committee that the following statement become policy effective immediately:
When Mifflin and Juniata County School Districts are in session, school aged children may be at the Juniata Valley YMCA under the
supervision of a parent or a responsible adult identified by the parent.
This policy was accompanied by two documents which were approved by the Board of Directors. These documents are designed to be signed by individuals under the following guidelines:
-The first document asks the party in charge of the child to sign indicating their role with the child or children
-The second document is to make the Juniata Valley YMCA aware that the child is with another adult with the knowledge of the parent.
Once the above documents are on file, the individual would only have to initial and date the document each time at arrival.
