Senior Programs

Members of the SilverSneakers® Fitness Program receive a complimentary membership to the Juniata Valley YMCA! SilverSneakers, the nation’s leading exercise program for older adults, is available at no additional cost to members of participating Medicare health plans.
When you join SilverSneakers, you have access to all the amenities included in a basic membership. Use heated pool, body conditioning classes, strengthening tools and more. You can also participate in fitness classes, including SilverSneakers classes taught by certified instructors and designed to benefit you regardless of your fitness level. Increase your strength and flexibility as you start to feel good all over! Your SilverSneakers Senior AdvisorSM will help you enroll, choose the activities that are appropriate for you, and provide assistance whenever you need it.

Classes Include:
MSROM - Muscular Strength and Range of Movement
Cardio Circuit - Non-impact standing choreography alternated with safe, fun and effective exercises for upper body strength work.
YogaStretch - YogaStretch will move your body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises and a final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity.
SilverSplash - Activate your aqua exercise urge for variety! SilverSplash offers LOTS of fun and shallow water moves to improve agility, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance. No swimming ability is required, and a special SilverSneakers kickboard is used to develop strength, balance and coordination.
Indoor Walking
Participants are welcome to come and walk indoors in a safe and secure environment within the YMCA gymnasiums. Walking beads (which help participants keep track of their laps) are available at the front desk. Gymnasium walking time is guaranteed between the hours of 5:00-9:00 am. Walking is not limited to this time frame. Walking is free for all YMCA members. Non-members need only to pay $1.
Pickle Ball
What do you get if you cross tennis with racquetball with ping pong and then throw in a dog??? It’s pickle ball! This creative, challenging fun activity is a sport for the ages.
