The JVY Stingray Winter Competitive Swim Team runs the end of November through March competing on a local, regional and national level. The Stingrays practice five days a week and offers a team for all levels. Everyone gets to swim, there are no tryouts. Swimmers must be at least 5+ years of age and have the ability to swim a minimal 25 yards without stopping. All swimmers are required to be members of the YMCA.

All Children Ages 5-18 years of age – Although this is a competitive program, the Coach will talk individually with swimmers to determine their goals for the season – it’s ok if children wish to swim for fun or wish to go all the way to district or state level.

The Y has one simply requirement - children must be able to swim one full length of the pool without assistance, not timed and any stroke is good. Official swim team season starts November and runs through February - those advancing to district or state level will continue to swim into March. Cost varies based on ability - three different levels (beginner - two days a week practice) (Intermediates - three day a week practices) (Advanced - 4/5 days a week practices) All competitive meets are held Saturday morning against other YMCA's in the league - a total of 7 teams.
